Intake 47: 23 January 2018 – 16 June 2018

Theme: Good Governance

In January, 63 government officials from Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Mongolia, Myanmar, Timor-Leste and Vietnam, arrived to start their five-month stay in New Zealand. They are pictured here at Victoria University during their three-day orientation before setting out for Nelson and Napier for Part One of their course at EIT and NMIT.

The current theme for their study programme is Governance. Themes for previous groups have included Disaster Risk management, Agriculture, Security, Trade, Sustainable Economic Development, Governance and Education. The ELTO programme is funded by the New Zealand Aid Programme within the New Zealand Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

During their stay here, the officials study an intensive English language course, visit workplaces, and stay in New Zealand homes, ensuring that they experience the Kiwi way of life as well as learn about government matters.
