Intake 29 celebrated their graduation from ELTO at a farewell hosted by NZAID at their headquarters in Wellington on 30 November 2009.

Don Clarke Director, Global Group in the New Zealand Agency for International Development congratulated the officials  and commented on the significance of the programme to New Zealand’s Development Assistance programme. All three country leaders spoke, thanking NZAID and Accent Learning for this opportunity to study in New Zealand.
This group is the first of a new five-year phase for ELTO and with this intake ELTO has moved into the next generation. Vu Khuong Thai, the Vietnam country leader told the gathering that his father and his father-in-law are both graduates of the ELTO programme and that Dr Carol Legge who taught him in this intake also taught the fathers.
Prior to the NZAID reception Professor Roberto Rabel, Pro Vice-Chancellor International, Victoria University of Wellington, made a speech of congratulations and presented graduation certificates to the ELTOs. This event, attended by staff and friends of ELTO and followed by afternoon tea, was held in the Victoria University University Council Chambers in the historic Hunter Building on Victoria’s Kelburn campus.
