NZ Ambassador meets ELTO in Laos
HE Bede Corry, NZ Ambassador to Thailand and Lao PDR hosted the first ever Lao ELTO and NZDS alumni celebration on May 16th at the Mercure Hotel in Vientiane. The evening opened with a performance of a haka by the current New Zealand Development Scholarship (NZDS) students much to the delight and amazement of the Ambassador and the alumni.
There was an excellent turnout with over one hundred people attending the cocktail reception with attendees enjoying great New Zealand wines, traditional roast lamb and fish and chips as well as other favourite New Zealand foods.
The Ambassador was thrilled to meet so many outstanding alumni members who came from Intakes as far back as 1995 and who represented a broad range of sectors within the government and private enterprise. Also in attendance was Mr Phil Hewitt, First Secretary Development, New Zealand Embassy Bangkok and representatives from Vientiane College, managers of New Zealand education programs in Lao PDR.
